Author's POV-
Thunderstorm has covered the dark skies of the night with lightening making the darker shades of earth illumiated.
But nothing can compare to the darkness that Varun Mahajan hides in his heart.
To the world, he might be a rich businessman and a spoiled brat to some extent but the actual depth of his character is still unknown to them. The one that knows no grief, the one who shatters the brave hearts that go towards disloyalty
Gliding through the concreted roads, Varun looked as the epitome of danger, his hair dishelved, sweat dropping through his forehead mixed with the blood of his wounds. His hands having an iron rod in them covered in rust and blood coating the major parts. He was on the verge of fainting but he'd walk, walk until he can reside in the shadows dark enough, to hide the truth of his existence.
It started raining heavily soon enough, blood was dripping down faster now, washing away with the water as he continued his steps, aware enough of the surrounding that had life threatening enemies lurking at any step.
Soon enough, he noticed a small 24/7 clinic by the side. The only glowing light in the darkest of alleys. It wasn't the shadow where he could relieve, but the light to re-live. He tilted his head, looked around for any movement, any hint of danger. Finding none, he walked towards the cabin. He didn't enter, he surged through, making notes, if it's safe to stay.
He stood outside the glass door taking in the inside environment, but as soon as he heard heels clicking on the floor, he stepped aside, hiding against the wall, listening and ready to slit the throat of anyone who could be a potential threat.
"Tum yahan?" A feminine voice said, some middle aged woman in her late 40s. His head perched up against the wall, hands grabbing the sharp knife tucked in his pants. But before he could attack, someone else replied from inside.
"Bas Ghar hi ja rahi hoon, socha sandwiches le lu, nahi toh dinner banana padega. Aap abhi tak yahi hain, seema aunty?"
"Haan, night shift ke liye koi nahi hai, head nurse ne kaha hai ki aaj main ruk jaun." Someone replied, who he supposed is 'Seema aunty'.
"Par aapke husband ki toh tabiyat kharab hai na?"
"Haan, par night shift ke Paise cut jayenge agar ghar chali gayi or treatment k liye ek ek rupay zaruri hai" Seema aunty replied. Varun was still against the wall beside the glass door invisible to the ladies inside, waiting for them to leave so he could treat his wounds.
"Aunty, aap jaiye aaj main ruk jaati hoon aapki jagah, vaise bhi Ghar pe koi hai nahi, vahan akele rahungi isse achha yahi ruk jaati hoon" The other woman said kindly.
Seema aunty nodded. "Thanks Saanvi" and she left from the front door. Now Saanvi was alone in the clinic, ready for the night shift with the sandwich in her hand. She arranged few stuff on the desk and then sat down on her chair with her phone plugging in the airpods as she closed her eyes and felt the music coarsing through her body.
Meanwhile, Varun who had been quietly waiting for one of them to leave, in immense pain now got up with the support of wall. He moved towards the glass door and entered inside.
Saanvi still hadn't noticed him as he entered stumbling on his injured foot, blood dripping from his wounds on the tiled floor. He held the door handle as he lifted his head up to look at the girl infront of him.
Young, ethereal, eyes closed, listening to music while she rested against the headrest. Varun locked the glass door and moved forward towards her.
Saanvi's eyes opened at the sound of the lock. Her eyes widened as she looked at the injured man, he looked at her too. His index finger immediately went to his lips signalling her to keep quiet.
"Treat my wounds" he said in hoarse voice. He looked nothing less than a criminal right now.
Saanvi involuntarily stepped back, her eyes widened in horror as she turned towards the door. But before, she could reach he grabbed her wrist and jerked her towards him. He twisted her arm behind her back as he said,
"Mere chot pe dawa lagaye Bina hi ja rahi ho? Agar meri jaan nahi bachaogi toh apni gawa dogi, Doctor"
Soon enough, she felt a sharp knife gliding towards her waist just kept at the edge letting the danger lingerie.
"Ab karogi patti?"
Saanvi immediately nodded and went towards the medical kit behind the desk, she hastily took the telephone and dialed 100 without letting him know. She pretended to gather the medical stuff.
The call connected after few minutes but before she could open her mouth and say something, a large, calloused hand wrapped around her lips, and she was pulled straight to collapse with a chest.
She writhed, trying to break free, but Varun's grip only got tighter as he whispered a
"Shhh" in her ear.
"Chup raho....nahi toh abhi jaan le lunga tumhari" Saanvi trembled trying to break free only to fail at her attempts.
The call was still on speaker.
"Hello, hello, aapki kya pareshani hai? Hello? Kon bol Raha hai? Hello? Kya mazak hai yeh? Koi bolega, aap kisi musibat mein hai? Hatt...saala" The call disconnected and varun immediately left Saanvi.
"K..kon ho t..tum?"
He stepped closer to her, looking directly into her eyes, as he whispered
"Chup chap...ek acchi doctor ki tarah mera ilaaj karo, agar koi chalaaki karne ki koshish ki toh yahi tumhari haddiyan dislocate kar dunga"
She wanted to run but she couldn't leave someone dying especially when her own life is also at the cost.
So she nodded, but before she could step back to get the kit, she felt his body going limp on her. Her heartbeat paced faster. Was he dead?
But, she called as she felt his slow breathe tingling on the skin of her neck. He had passed out due to exhaustion. She laid him on the bed and started treating his bloody wounds.
His blood was coating her skin now, it wasn't serious, but the way the blood spread on her neck, it looked as if she just signed a pact with the devil himself and the blood proved the claim on her.
She could end him right now, be free from the danger, but she treated him, fulfilled the responsibility of a doctor. But little did she know, that her little act of kindness would end her up in her worst nightmare.
